Air fryer asparagus is a delicious way to enjoy vegetables with a crispy, golden coating without deep-frying. Each asparagus spear is coated in flour, beaten eggs, and a seasoned breadcrumb mixture with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and paprika for extra flavor.

The air fryer makes the coating beautifully crunchy while keeping the asparagus tender on the inside. Ready in just 10 minutes of cooking, this air fryer asparagus recipe is perfect as an appetizer, a side dish for meat or fish, or a tasty snack to share. Serve it warm with garlic yogurt sauce, mayonnaise, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Ingredients

Directions

Step 1

Wash the asparagus and pat it dry with a clean kitchen towel. Trim approximately 2.5 cm (1 inch) from the woody ends of each spear.

Step 2

Place the flour in one shallow dish. In a second dish, beat the eggs until well combined. In a third dish, mix the breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.

Step 3

Roll each asparagus spear in the flour, shaking off any excess. Dip it into the beaten eggs, then coat it thoroughly in the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture. Place the coated spears on a plate and repeat with the remaining asparagus.

Step 4

Arrange the breaded asparagus in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to cook them in batches. Lightly spray the asparagus with cooking spray.

Step 5

Cook at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, shake the basket or carefully turn the asparagus to help the coating brown evenly.

Step 6

Serve the asparagus warm while the coating is crispy. Pair it with your favorite dipping sauce or serve it as a side dish with your favorite main course. Enjoy!
